September is a great time to visit the Yorkshire coast, with fewer crowds and balmy weather making it easier to explore and relax at your own pace. Autumn may be on its way but there's still so much to enjoy with a packed calendar of events and festivals, and places to visit.

Filey Kite Festival

Filey Kite Festival

Filey Kite Festival returns this weekend for two fun-filled days! Come along to Filey Brigg Country Park and enjoy expert kite flying displays, children's rides, face painting, kite stalls, food and drink, and local craft stalls, all against the stunning backdrop of sea views.

 

Trackrod Rally Yorkshire

The ever popular Trackrod Rally Yorkshire is back for two days, with the competitive stage being held in Dalby Forest. This year is one of the biggest in the event's history, with over 160 confirmed entries.

Wave off the cars at the ceremonial start at Filey Beach on Friday 22 September before they head into the forests, and follow their journey on Saturday 23 September as they restart from NY500 on the A169,before finishing back in Filey at the beach.

 

Filey Bay 1779 Festival

Flamborough Head

Remarkably, Filey Bay is the site of one of the most celebrated naval battles of the American War of Independence – the Battle of Flamborough Head.

 

Head over to the Crescent Gardens and Filey Sea Front on 23 and 24 September for the Filey Bay 1779 Festival to commemorate this momentous battle, with sea shanties, shipwreck walks on the prom, and a Sea Cadets Parade and Service.

 

Scarborough Jazz Festival

Scarborough Jazz Festival is returning in 2023, celebrating its 20th anniversary!
Enjoy three days of world class jazz by the seaside at Scarborough Spa between 22 – 24 September with day, afternoon and evening tickets available now.

 

Scarborough Pride

On 30 September Scarborough will host Scarborough Pride, a colourful event to celebrate and promote LGBTQIA+ inclusion. A Pride Parade through Scarborough will kick off the day at 11am followed by the main event at Scarborough Spa, which includes an array of glittering entertainment, a marketplace, food and drink, and a family area.

 

Scarborough Surf Festival

Scarborough Surf Festival returns to the North Bay on 30 September for a fun-filled day by the sea! There's lots to get involved with including surf lessons, yoga by the sea, sand art, a surf simulator and a beach clean. Plus, there will be many stalls to browse, freshly made pizza, desserts and sweet treats to enjoy.

 

Love Exploring - for free!

Filey Food Festival

Open up a magical world of things to do on the Yorkshire coast with the free Love Exploring app, a fun way to discover some of the area’s cultural treasures using the magic of augmented reality. With trails and games across Scarborough, Whitby and Filey, you're sure to discover some hidden history and sights you haven't explored before.

 
Supercar in Whitby

Experience one of the most impressive collections of supercars as they roll up at Whitby Harbour for Supercar Saturday on 7 October, with over 80 extraordinary supercars on display.
